Artist Spotlight

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT

I have this customer....
okay she started as a customer, but she's turned into that fun, crazy friend that you know you'll eventually wind up in jail with!

Anyway ~ she makes some absolutely beautiful and incredibly affordable jewelry and I want to make sure everybody knows about her!

First, she makes these great barefoot sandals!  I have 2 pairs and they are a fun and flirty addition to any summer outfit!

This one I gave to a friend and she
loves it! Lightweight and goes with
everything!

I bought one like this for myself, but
my 12 year old daughter promptly
comandeered it because it was
"girl on fire". She wears it all the time!

And of course ~ she uses some lampwork in her designs :)

Collaboration

If you ever want to really amp up the creativity in your art work ~ collaborate with someone!  Not only is it more fun, but the ideas grow exponentially when you work together.  I know when I sit down to create jewelry with a friend we're always critiquing and improving each other's work.  The other day I asked my husband to bend some spoons for me to make into bracelets. He did a few and they turned out like this:

I love it!  I'm so excited about these and I have a bunch of ideas for more!

So anyway, while he's out there bending spoons he thinks maybe I should make necklaces too.  I hadn't thought of that, but told him I would certainly try it.  And here's what happened:

I love this too!  It turned out so much better than I expected ~ and without him I would not have even thought to try it.  He's still out there bending spoons and has lots more ideas for me.  The only downside to this collaboration is that I don't think I can keep up with him!!

Thank you Dusty ~ You Rock!!

Designer Showcase - Splashings

Featured Designer Karen Cedrone-Harris of Splashings is a talented designer that makes fantastic jewelry using handmade lampwork beads by a variety of artists!

Karen began making jewelry 5 years ago when she became a stay at home mom in search of a challenge that would keep her busy. She started making jewelry for herself, and then friends and family and eventually selling her jewelry to the friends and co-workers of those that wore the pieces she made.

Karen says: " As I tried new things, I discovered lampwork glass which I love. I never get tired of looking at it and am truely amazed by what glass artists can do. I love blues and greens and anything that makes you think of warm sunny places and the beach. I have fun trying to find new ways to use beads or trying to figure out a new technique I saw in a magazine, it's like a puzzle."

Karen started selling on Ebay and switched to Etsy last year. She also sells at shows and festivals in the MA and CT area. Her Etsy shop announcement always has a current list of upcomming events. You can also find her work at:
